This is the US model of Panasonic W series. The Panasonic W5 is the 2nd smallest unit on MyLet's / Toughbook series. Consider as one of CEO's dream machine, Panasonic W5 presents light, durability, integrated optical, 12.1" screen and excellent battery life.
The new Panasonic W5 now upgraded with Core Duo processor which boost significant performance while keeping the battery life to a surreal (for a 2.64 pound machine) 10.5-hours.
One of the methods used to achieve the W5's incredible lightness of being is its clever optical drive design. The DVD drive open upward compare to the typical notebooks which open outward.
Similarly, the W5's 12.1" XGA TFT is larger than any similarly size notebook. The reason is they minimize the size of the frame around the screen. The W5 has a fanless design for quiet computing.
But one of the biggest reason for people choosing any of the Panasonic product is because of its durability. It is fully qualified as semi-rugged notebook and it withstood 100kg (220 pounds) of weight, as well as a 30cm (11.8 inch) drop, in Panasonic's lab tests.
